Wind Energy
Projects that make our energy future more secure couldn't be more important. Edtric worked with Clipper Windpower and BP to design a system to make their wind farms more efficient. The system is currently being utilized to control and boost efficiency at the following Texas wind farms:
Project Avatar
An Unmanned Aerial Platform for the future...
Avatar is an affordable UAS being developed for the commercial market and local government organizations. It is a combination of a mono-wing airframe, advanced flight controller, and PC based ground control station.
Airframe
The Avatar airframe consists of a flying-wing design. Both full scale and 1/2 scale designs are being developed.
Flight Board
The Avatar Flight Control Board is the pilot behind the stick of the Avatar Unmanned Aerial System. It features a full sensor suite and a Cypress PSoC capable of sensing and controlling the dynamic motion of the platform. It has been designed from the ground up with the latest sensors and an advanced SoC. The IMU consists of a single chip 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyro, and 3 axis magnetometer. The GPS is capable of tracking 4 independent satellite constellations and fusing the data into a hyper-accurate position fix. The board also features a Pito input for measuring airspeed and a barometric altimeter capable of 10cm resolution. Wireless communications take place over cellular or a zigBee mesh network. Combined with the Ground Control Suite, this flight controller forms the backbone of the system or any Autonomous Vehicle.
Ground Control
Bulit on the rock-solid web technology of Google Chrome, the Ground Control Suite displays telemetry and video, logs data to local storage, and is capable of remote operation. Since it's built in Chrome, it's always cross platform and can be used on all major Personal Computers. Furthermore, with powerful Google API's, data visualization and mapping is intuitive, beautiful, and always up-to-date.
